Bohie Palecek is a female artist with a background in traditional sign-writing, commercial art, and graphic design. She studied Drawing and Printmaking at The Australian National University and went on to receive the "Award for Excellence" in Graphic Design and Digital Media at The Canberra Institute of Technology.
Bohie has exhibited in Australia, North America, and the UK, given keynote talks and workshops with reputable organisations such as Business South Australia and the Australian Graphic Design Association.
She's worked on large scale signage projects with Jacob's Creek, Uber, Woolworths and Westfield, and her illustrative work has been featured on streetwear brands from America, Canada, Australia and England. She has painted feature murals and designed for tattoo shops, bars, wine and record labels and her portfolio continues to grow through feature articles in coffee table books such as Expressive Type and typography blogs like Goodtype.
Her work has a mystical warmth to it, a homage to childhood innocence and folk art. Her immersion in fringe subcultures, paired with a passion for slow living, flow through her work with optimistic integrity, finding beauty in the simpler things. Utilising her background in Traditional SignWriting and branding design, typography often features in Bohies’ personal work, either as recognisable corporate branding or from her own personal poetry.
Currently residing in Braidwood, NSW, Bohie’s daily focus is creative expression. 2019 has seen her teaching workshops in Expressive Type, working on community driven large scale mural projects, and pursuing her own personal art for upcoming exhibits.
